Haircut NT$500 · 30 min · Xinyi, Da'an, Zhongshan

An empty oxblood leather barber chair under a single lamp, mint-green tiles behind it.
The chair. Leather, chrome, one lamp. Image illustrative.

I

The chair

It has been waiting since the shutters went up. A cape over the arm, the footrest down, the lamp already warm.

Sit. Say what you want, or don't: most people point at the back of their head and that is enough to start.

II

The towel

Warm water first. Whatever the week did to your hair, it starts to let go.

Nobody is in a hurry here. The steam isn't either.

The towel. Hot water, a chrome tray, a brass bowl. Image illustrative.

III

The mirror

There he is. Scissors, comb, and his whole attention.

Image illustrative.

IV

The finish

The last pass is the neckline. A clean straight edge, so it grows out the way it should.

Then the cape comes off, the hair is brushed from your collar, and you are back on the street.

The back of a freshly cut neck: short black hair tapering to a crisp, clean edge above a white cape.
The finish. A taper and a clean edge. Image illustrative.
